Min Mitchell
Minister Naomi Mitchell
Minister Naomi Mitchell is a fearless and awesome woman of God. She serves in ministry at St. John Church Baptist under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. Ricky Freeman. Minister Mitchell has been on fire for Jesus ever since she accepted her call to ministry in 1992. Because of her fear of retribution, rebuke and rejection as well as her tendency to trust man rather than God she did not serve the church as a minister but served in many other areas including Bible teacher, women's ministry, and children's ministry, just to name a few. She served in as many leadership capacities she could serve in but just never felt fully satisfied in serving the Lord as He had intended.
In 2010 God led Minister Mitchell to ARISE to her call as preacher and placed her in a vineyard that has helped her to grow and thrive in her ministry. As she states, "God moved in a miraculous way and sat me in the place where I could serve and flourish. More importantly in a place that he had prepared for me. God was only waiting for me to step out in faith and to release my fears to Him. Luke 1:46-50." Minister Mitchell will be a 2012 graduate of Garrett Evangelical Seminary where she is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Care and Counseling. She shares her love, life, and ministry with her husband of 8 1/2 years, the Rev. Joel Mitchell and together they have 3 beautiful children; Jasper Caleb, Jacobi Israel and Sidni Joi Mitchell. Rev Denise
Rev. Denise R. Williams
Rev. Denise R. Williams is the Minister of Praise and Worship at First Baptist Congregational Church, located on the Westside of Chicago. Under her leadership and teaching, the Praise and Worship music ministry continues to move to new levels of worship as they each seek after God personally, and connect with Him through music and corporate worship.
Rev. Williams is single and satisfied in the Lord! While she has no children of her own, she is truly a mother to many children, selflessly sharing her time and resources with them.
Rev. Williams earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Spelman College and a Master of Arts in Human Services Administration from Spertus College. She is currently employed with the Chicago Dept. of Family and Support Services (DFSS.)
In 1995, Rev. Dr. Arthur D. Griffin, Sr. licensed her as a minister to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and ordained and commissioned her to ministry in 2002.
Lastly and more importantly, Rev. Williams says “Truly the joy of the Lord is my strength – because “for every mountain He has brought me over, for every trial He has seen me through, for every blessing I say HALLEJUAH and for this I give HIM praise!” She can be reached at

Pastor Johnson
Pastor Linda A. Johnson
With that Pastor Johnson was led to begin “Beauty for Ashes Ministry”. The Lord showed her that there were more people out there who felt "burned up" because of drug abuse, HIV/AIDS infection or disconnection from their family and it was Pastor Johnson's assignment to let them know that God will give them beauty for ashes.
Pastor Linda serves as Assistant Pastor of the Lawndale Community Church and works for the Lawndale Christian Health Center as a Substance Abuse Counselor/Case Manager. She facilitates men and women support groups and is also a certified Red Cross HIV/AIDS educator. Pastor Linda previously hosted her own radio broadcast ”"Time of Refreshing"every Friday from 7:00pm to 7:30 p.m. on Gospel Radio 1570 on the AM Station. Pastor Johnson's roots are in the Lawndale Community and she has a passion to bring awareness in the Lawndale Community taking it to the street once a month with her “Gym Shoe Ministry” out on the street corner to help decrease HIV/AIDS and Substance Abuse in our society. Linda A. Johnson was born in Mississippi and soon after was migrated to the Westside of Chicago and to this day still resides on the Westside. Linda is the eldest of nine children and mother of three. She attended Lucy Flower High School, Wilbur Wright College, and Logo Graduate School with her degree of Ministerial Diploma. She was ordained into the Gospel ministry in 1984. Pastor Johnson's life's mission has always been to serve the needs of others and she uses her time and energy to fulfill that purpose.
Pastor Johnson's vision to step out on her own came in 1999 when bound to a wheel chair the Lord spoke and said, "If your life seems to be all burned out and all you have left is ashes, give me your ashes and I will make something beautiful out of you."
